School Brass band from Assam to take part in 2018 Republic Day Parade at New Delhi

Guwahati, December 27: The Brass Band team of students of Bengtol Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Chirang on Wednesday left for New Delhi to participate in the ensuing Republic Day Parade under the command of Col Javinder Singh of 1st Assam Battalion NCC.

City Police Commissioner Hiren Nath gave the participants a warm send-off on behalf of Assam Police at Guwahati Railway Station on Wednesday morning, before they set off on their journey to New Delhi by the Sampark Kranti Express.

The meeting was attended by Father Siby John, Principal of the school, Smt Hira Narzary, the teacher in charge of the team, Suprotive Lal Barua, ACP Panbazar and Iftikar Ali, DSP Railway Police among others.

Commissioner of Police, Hiren Nath while congratulating the team members for being the first ever school band from Assam to be selected for the prestigious Republic Day function in New Delhi, lauded the patronage of the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, DGP Mukesh Sahay and Father VM Thomas.

The team had undergone 10 days training at the Narangi Army camp and will undergo further 20 days conditioning and other training in New Delhi before final participation.

Each of the participants was gifted with a gamosa, flowers, woollen cap, a pair of tracksuits, chocolates etc.
